Hello!
My name is Ivan Dementiev. I am the founder and the Artistic Director of the Russian
International acting school of Michael Chekhov's practice. My passion is to teach and research
this method via training students from all over the world. So far, I organized workshops in more
than twenty countries and fifty cities from Germany to Mongolia.
Moreover, I have started teaching the Michael Chekhov method ONLINE since March 2020. It
allowed me to connect with the new students from the US, UK, Mexico, South Korea, Indonesia,
etc., who have successfully completed the online training courses.
As an experienced actor on stage and screen, I understand the importance of having the acting
tools, which should resonate with the actor nature and professional philosophy. But I can assure
you that the Michael Chekhov method is not only for the actors and directors. Though my
teaching experience, I understood that this technique works for all creatives and for other
occupations as well. You will be surprised that my students are psychologists, scientists, IT
workers, accountants, managers, business owners, and many more people with different
professional background. All of them use this method to develop the quality of their work and
life!

What is the Michael Chekhov method about?
On the one hand, it is a unique acting technique that is on-demand worldwide (except Russia).
Otherwise, it is a method to awaken Creative Energy. Hence, the Michael Chekhov technique is
vital for any of you who has decided to take responsibility for your lives and act accordingly.
This method involves a complex of exercises, which allows to realize and release your
individuality. The primary tool for it is to develop imagination, intuition, and creative thinking
rather than engage logic and intellect only.
Training methods:
The difference from the Stanislavsky System
The most famous acting System in Russia and Post-Soviet countries is the Stanislavsky
System. Each student who takes an acting course studies this method which based on affective
memory - life experience.
In other words, to perform "joy" on the stage, the actor must remember a joyful moment from the
past. It gives him the required creative impulse. Logically, when the performer wants to awake a
sense of grief, he needs to remember the loss of the loved one or something else from the
experience that can cause a similar feeling.
In conclusion - How can the actor "not perform "but BE !? How to NOT remember the past but
to feel truly “here and now”? And how should the actor perform something what he never
experienced in his life?
Michael Chekhov answered all these questions brilliantly!

The sense of "The Whole" as a foundation of Michael Chekhov method
The sense of "The Whole" is a powerful tool of mindfulness that allows you to understand your
feelings and wishes. The modern "consumer society" blocks these abilities motivates people
"earn and spend" endlessly. As a result, some of us lose a sense of our personality and begin to
exist within the framework of stereotypes and behavioural stamps invented by somebody else.
Michael Chekhov method encourages you to trust yourselves, following not only logic but
intuition. The practice outcome is to start feeling out your gut, your nature. Precisely this sense

Я попробовала воображение. Это отличается от того, как я привыкла работать на сцене «я в предлагаемых». Это внутренняя Вера, которая должна окрепнуть. Мне нравится подход Ивана к оценке, к отношению, к результату работы. Мы всегда в предвкушении новой, даже небольшой победы. Очень трудно перестроиться после театрального института: не ругать себя, а хвалить. Но на похвале я готова работать дальше. Метод Чехова - он про внутренние негласные принципы взаимодействия природы (нашей и того что вокруг нас).
И удивило меня, что я еще с детства использовала многие вещи, но просто не могла осознать в них структуры. Это про правду - про жизнь.
И поэтому же мне этот метод отозвался прям сразу, будто я так уже и жила..
И сейчас я вижу, что все что я познаю, все что я чувствовала раньше и что я узнаю сейчас - становится более объемной картинкой. И это ужасно интересно. Хочется идти глубже замечая и приятно удивляясь - какая глобальная взаимосвязь есть между всем.

Благодаря простоте, лаконичности и глубине Метода Чехова, я обрела бóльшую уверенность в себе, я увидела свои способности - раньше мне нужно было подтверждение из вне, а теперь я нашла это подтверждение внутри себя. Во время работы мне приходили осознания относительно того чем я сейчас занимаюсь и чего я хочу. Это удивительно, как то чего люди ищут долго-долго пришло само собой в первый же день занятий. Благодаря нашим урокам я открыл для себя одну важную вещь - я никак не двигаюсь к своей цели. Я нарисовал её у себя в голове и просто мечтаю о ней в свободное время. Но ведь для её достижения нужно еще что-то делать! Нельзя просто сказать: "Ну, время еще есть, начать никогда не поздно". Поздно, господа. Будет поздно, когда мы опомнимся, оглядываясь назад. Нельзя рассчитывать на случай, нужно рассчитывать только на себя. А время, которое у нас есть, нужно проводить с пользой. Обучаться чему-то, практиковаться, оттачивать мастерство, ведь нет конечной точки, когда ты можешь сказать: "Ну всё, ты превзошел всех. Можешь расслабиться". А это мотивирует меня начать действовать прямо сейчас. Благдарю!
Why choose me?
I studied the Michael Chekhov technique in practice. Of course, the books of Michael Chekhov
are splendid, but it is hard to learn this method deeply without guidance and training. Could you
agree, it is a difference between reading a book about aikido and practising it with a tutor on the
feet?
At the time I chose the second option and became a student and a follower of Gitis Padegimas.
He is the professor of Performing Art in Lithuania and the theatre practitioner. My teacher has
been doing his research on the Michael Chekhov method, practise and teach it all over the
world for the last fifty years. Moreover, Gitis Padegimas is a primary student of the practitioners
who studied the method under Michael Chekhov tutorial from Russia, Europe, and the US. I can
assure you, that the Michael Chekhov method is more than the training complex of acting skills.
It is a philosophy inherited by word of mouth, from a teacher to a student.
